Historical buildings
Thirty-five out of the 41 historical monument buildings are located within the Protected Area Historical Centre of Roşia Montană, which is estimated to cover more than 135 ha and include approximately 300 buildings.
The remaining 6 historical monument buildings will also be preserved and restored, a situation which required the modification of certain industrial objectives, so as to ensure protection areas, access and safety of the historic sites.
At present, 10 historical monument houses in the Market - Roşia Montană area are in the final phase of drafting the documentation necessary to start restoration work and one of these houses have already been finalized.
From the point of view of architectural evaluations, the following major types of buildings have been identified in Rosia Montana. Din punct de vedere al evaluărilor arhitecturale efectuate în Roşia Montană s-au putut identifica următoarele tipuri majore.
Based on land typology:
- urban
- rural
- mixed (specific to the mining habitats)
Based on house typology:
- vernacular (rural, traditional Romanian)
- urban (historical)
None of the houses-historical monument within the project proposed by RMGC will not be affected negatively, but they will all be included in a vast restoration and rehabilitation program (see Environment Impact Assessment Study, vol. 33 and the Plan M – Management Plan for the Cultural Patrimony, part II – Management Plan for historical monuments and protected areas in Rosia Montana, pages 74-91.) This program is absolutely necessary to save these houses, that are severely degraded at present
